Companies, either importing or exporting companies, can be searched through product description, HS code or both at the same time. We recommend searching with both fields as the results you’ll get are more accurate.

When searching with both product description and HS code you have to choose between “or” & “and”. Find in this article how each of those filters work.

It’s possible to search for several product descriptions and HS codes at the same time. Just hit ENTER between each term to save it to the search.

Browse by product description

To search for importers by product description, simply enter the product you want to sell. Importers Finder will return all the companies in the market where you are searching that have purchased that product during the specified period of time.

It’s possible to perform multi-product searches. Just hit ENTER after each product description to save the terms for the search.

The companies displayed in te results, are those that have at least 1 transaction that matches the product description you have searched for. In addition, it is a literal match, so each character must match and in the same order.

If you do not get any results when searching by product description, try a broader search. For example, red ceramic tile → ceramic tile. This happens because the field of “product description” in the bill of lading doesn’t always have that much detail.

Searches in Spanish-speaking countries must be done in Spanish, while those for the United States must be done in English.

Browse by HS code

The search can also be done by tariff code. To search this way, you need to keep the following requirements in mind:

  • The code must be inserted without dots. Instead of searching for 1509.90 → 150990

  • The first six digits of HS codes are standardized worldwide. In xNova, you can always filter by the first six digits of HS codes.

  • In some countries, you may also filter by six, eight, ten or twelve digits (Find below a table with the maximum number of HS code digits).

However, be cautious when searching for more than six digits, as the eight or ten-digit HS codes you use in one country may not be valid in another country.

If you don't know your tariff code, we recommend using the search engine on the European Union Customs portal → HS Code, Customs Tariff Number, Taric - European Database

If you need to check the 8 -10 digit tariff code of each country, we recommend the WTO search engine → Welcome to TAO - Tariff Analysis Online facility provided by WTO
